    PUNCH.

Well then, anyone who thought it would be a different girl named Angel can now slap their hands to their faces and whisper “nooooooooo!”

Hey, speaking of punching, did you hear the one about the cheerleader who was kicked off the squad because she wouldn’t cheer for the basketball player who raped her? (I believe the actual cheer included the words “put it in,” as if the situation itself wasn’t wretched enough.)

Appallingly, she lost her court case against the school, and is now faced with $45,000 worth of legal fees.

While I guess you can’t turn back time and punch that dickhead in the nuts, you can simultaneously help the girl pay her court fees AND get a snazzy piece of original art by Jason Ho for just $20.

There are only 20 available, so jump on it fast! Alternately, you can simply donate directly to the girl and her family by hitting the “Donate” button on the far right of this page.

It would be interesting if Mimi overheard the conversation, or rather Angel’s monologue.
May I give Thea the benefit of the doubt? She could’ve gone into the other room to gather herself together, and Angel followed her, just to absolve herself of any consequences for their pasts.

    2. Peach says:

I have to say, this is my least favorite strip so far. If anyone is causing drama it’s Angel. Thea removed herself from the immediate situation and Angel followed. By making herself look more responsible and protective it makes Thea look petty and jealous. The whole “calling for no drama while causing it anyway” schtick really bugs me.

That aside, great comic, great art, just not this particular strip. ^_^

      • Kifflington says:

Totally agree; I have renewed respect for Thea for restraining herself from landing one on Angel, and am waiting for an explosion of ‘…and what the FUCK has it got to do with you?’.

Ooh, Angel, you’re so mature, look at how you’re putting people straight (no pun intended) about a situation that was ultimately only created by you being a sexually incontinent liar-by-omission in the first place.

      • Chaucer says:

I understand how irritating this must be for a responsible, mature, caring person like Thea. She recognizes that Angel is right, that she (Thea) is behaving petulantly and could inadvertently hurt the one person she does NOT want hurt. The worst part, IMO, is having that pointed out by an irresponsible, self-centered jerk like Angel.

    3. Once More With Feeling says:

Don’t you just loathe people who try to “take over” an emotional situation, just to ensure that they won’t be called to account for their behavior? An Angel she is not.

    4. Deeplue says:

Loathing Angel right now. Does this remind anyone else of the “lesbian 2 degrees of separation” ?

    5. Goat says:

Really hope Angel isn’t supposed to be a sympathetic character now or something.

      Booo Angel.

    6. DSL says:

In Angel’s defense, Thea (clumsily) made the first moves, behaved abominably ( and vomitously) on their dates, assumed things were serious before they were, and made with the “hungry hungry hippos” comment, thereby earning that punch. Doesn’t excuse Angel’s ignorance about STDs and she could have timed her “I’m not your girlfriend” news a bit better, but I see no reason to demonize Angel.

      • NumberJ says:

Those last two are pretty good reasons to, y’know, *criticize* her though. She behaved quite badly by, well, most people’s standards except herself, it appears.

And Angel, well, it wasn’t just her ignorance that was a problem, it was the fact that she harmed someone else via her ignorance. She could be dumb on her own all she wanted, instead she had to go be dumb while putting it to lots of other people (in and of itself not a problem), inflicting the consequences of her foolishness on others.

Thea *was* dumb to just make assumptions about that sort of thing, though. And she didn’t ‘earn’ a punch. Sorry, guys-you don’t get to lay someone out just because they call you fat. Basic civilization here. (Thea shouldn’t have said that, though, and while it is reasonable to *expect* physical responses if you just go insulting people, that’s not the same thing as earning it.

Anyway, Thea hadn’t actually *made* her reaction here. She got pretty terse and left the room abruptly. Angel assumed Thea would flip out or ‘hurt Mimi’ somehow by behaving badly. Well, Mimi’s a big girl and Angel seems in a poor position to judge what will hurt others. Though she’s a past mistress at big assumptions. Such as moral authority and what Thea will do next.

      • DSL says:

Your points are taken, but I’m glad you at least see the difference between “criticize” and “demonize.”

      • Lesa says:

It’s much easeir to understand when you put it that way!

    7. Louisa says:

Please, Thea totally needs to pull up her big girl pants here. Angel may be wrong about a lot of things, but she’s right about that much- though I’m not sure now was the right time to say so. That was a rude and awkward thing for Thea to do to Mimi. The appropriate thing to do would have been to just smile and say they’ve met, then offer to get Mimi a drink or something.

    8. Tia says:

Thea has an awful habit of just walking out of the room whenever she feels uncomfortable, and making herself look like an absent-minded unthoughtful person. Really not liking this tendency.

    9. isitsevenyet says:

Better to walk away to avoid causing a scene. Sometimes emotions run so strong that you HAVE to walk away or you’ll blow your top.

    10. Drake says:

I still think it would have been cool to have a Rent reference and it being a drag queen named Angel. :)

    11. dotcom says:

Watch out, Thea. When your SO likes you too much, that can sometimes be the kiss of death in an early relationship.

    12. Ethel says:

the angel & devil Theas would make ADORABLE earrings ^_^ also I agree with Tia & Louise, let’s hope she proves Mimi’s mum right :)

    13. JimVan says:

Her inner editor isn’t the only thing slipping! Her invisible cleavage showed up in the second panel too! XD
Also, bravo! I wondered how long it would take for the old shoulder devil cliche to show up…

    14. Kiki says:

Haha, oh Thea… my thoughts would be exactly the same xD
Though I do wonder how her mother already knows that Thea is better for Mimi… she just barely met her xD

      • Lin says:

Its the matching shirt! Plus the fact that they both don’t like Angel! Buddies!

      • Anie says:

I assume Mimi has been talking to her mum about her. You can tell a lot about whether a SO is good for someone based on how they talk about them.

    15. Kiki says:

Also, as a gay person… it makes me really happy to see a parent that not only accepts their child as being gay, but even still shows interest in meeting their child’s partners. This sort of thing might not be such a big thing any more, but … it means a lot to me to see Mimi’s mom being so accepting x3

    16. dotcom says:

I really like how Thea appears to focus her attention on the angel instead of the devil. :)

    17. Mcmacladdie says:

This strip just made me want to hug Mimi’s mom :)

    18. Wicked says:

Haha love the angel and devil in this one. xD

    19. Arkadi says:

Four minutes and still laughing my head off XD Love Thea’s little angel!

And I’m glad things are going her way for a change. Jeez ^^
