I don't think I explained this earlier in the arc, but: this was an actual date idea, submitted by an actual person named David, whom I've actually met! He came to a convention once with homemade GLUTEN-FREE pretzels wearing the apron I'd drawn him wearing in the strip before this one! 

You can see a photo of us at the bottom of the chaser strip, following a really sweet collaboration written by IRL David and his IRL wife Crystal that, upon re-reading, made me tear up.

I implore you to read it! If you like happy endings, that is. ;) (The final sentence may worry you at first, but just read it as if it were David talking to Jamie!)
