Ikea is Lego, Ikea is Lego

I really do enjoy putting together Ikea furniture, but not when there are missing parts, and not when I accidentally stuff the wrong peg into the wrong hole (no innuendo intended, for once)! These are two things that came with my Ikea purchases today. Le sigh.

On the bright side, I now have a bed frame and a long table for my printers and scanners to sit on! Or, I will, as soon as they're all finished.

This will most likely look like a step backward rather than forward (because it's so messy, and the "before" photos were taken when there was still daylight), but here's the progress so far! Drag the photos off to another tab to enlarge (there's commentary).

The studio-turned-studio-and-bedroom:

And a (passable) comparison of my desktop computer setup, where I'm standing right now:

It looks shabby, I know, but I'm trying a temproary setup before I have a friend help me build the desk I really want. :)

Special thanks to my mom (who not only let me borrow her SUV to pick up the furniture, but DROVE me to the store and then gave me a flu shot!), Luke (who carried pretty much all of the boxes on his own and then helped me make a bed, and then drew some lovely pictures of hands), and Kris (who doesn't know it yet but will totally get roped into helping me tomorrow). And Woodchuck Pear Cider, which was my Woodchuck of choice tonight.

I'm not sure what I'm gonna tackle tomorrow, so I guess you'll just have to come back and find out! (Oh god, this is so exciting, how can you possibly slep tonight.)
